Our aim is to compare three possible and different perceptions of the agricultural landscape of Hellenistic and Roman Sicily: the "cadrastal" landscape as shown in the Tables of Halaisa, the literary landscape, as evidenced by sources as the poetry of Theocritus, and the landscape reconstructed through archaeological surveys (landscape archaeology). This paper describes the results of a landscape archaeological research, focused on the ancient territory of Alesa, city of Hellenistic and Roman period located near the North coast of Sicily. The aim of the research is to analyze the problems of settlement and rural population of Alesa hinterland, and also to detect human activities and to perceive settlement strategies and resource exploitation tactics by the local communities in a long-term perspective (from prehistory to late-roman/early byzantine periods). Arginare il consumo di suolo: centri commerciali e programmazione urbanistica

La distinzione tra spazio pubblico e ad uso pubblico porta gli Amministratori a ‘subire’ l’edificazione di grandi centri commerciali, come nel caso in esame, invece di focalizzare altrimenti le energie per il miglioramento della qualità di vita degli abitanti. Innescare un meccanismo di rilancio economico diventa uno dei tanti ‘alibi’ per costruire, per cementificare, per consumare suolo, per distruggere gli ultimi lembi di territorio agricolo, senza alcuna attenzione alle reali esigenze della comunità, senza alcuna programmazione urbanistica.
